Ever had a dream where you could do anything? That's what Super Mario Bros. 2 is like! It's a wacky adventure where Mario and his friends find themselves in a fantastical dream world filled with strange creatures and new challenges. This game is unlike other Mario adventures, with more characters to play as, kooky enemies to defeat, and a whole new way to play!
This time, you're not just jumping on Goombas; you're picking them up and throwing them! You'll also be tossing vegetables, riding magic carpets, and exploring a fantastical dream world! Your mission is to help Mario and his friends defeat the grumpy frog king, Wart, and save the land of Subcon from his evil spell. Can you overcome the challenges and become a dream-world hero?
How to Play
The controls are pretty straightforward, as usual. Here's all you should know:
- Arrow Keys: Move your character left and right, climb up vines and ladders, enter doors, and duck under obstacles.
- Z: Jump over enemies and gaps!
- X: Run super fast, pick up and throw things, and even dig into the ground!
- Enter: Start / Pause / Resume the game.
Before you start your adventure, you'll get to choose which hero you want to play as: Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Princess Peach! Each character has unique abilities. Luigi can jump super high, Princess Peach can float in the air, and Toad is super strong!
This game has 20 different areas to explore, spread across 7 amazing worlds. At the end of each area, you'll face a mini-boss, and if you can defeat them all, you'll get to fight the big boss, Wart, in the final area!
You'll start with three lives, but be careful! You'll lose a life each time you fall down a hole or get hit by too many enemies. You can even find hidden areas called Sub-space, where you can collect coins and mushrooms.
What Else You Should Know
Watch out for all sorts of strange enemies in this dream world, like Shyguys, Hoopsters, and Birdos. They look a little different from the enemies in other Mario games! To defeat them, you can't just jump on their heads. Instead, you need to stand on top of them and press the X key to pick them up. Then, you can throw them at other enemies!
At the end of each world, you can play a bonus game with the coins you've collected. It's like a slot machine where you can win extra lives to help you on your adventure!
